چکیده

Abstract Introduction In heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), moderate continuous training (MCT) and high-intensity interval (HIIT) are both effective in increasing peak oxygen uptake (peak V̇O2). Purpose The aim of this study was to investigate the association characteristics (i.e. average sessions/week, duration/week, mean intensity) change V̇O2 following 3 months MCT HIIT patients HFpEF. Methods Among 120 who were randomized (5x40 min/week at 35–50% rate reserve [HRR]) or (3x38 80–90% HRR), those completed 3-month follow-up (N=107) considered for analysis. Training duration rates [HR] recorded a smartphone application, evaluated customized software manually checked plausibility. If HR measurements classified as invalid/unreliable (e.g. very strong fluctuations), excluded from Intensities calculated % HRR total sessions highest values all intervals HIIT. Associations between using univariate multivariate regression analyses. Individual HR-V̇O2 relationships used calculate compare energy expenditure (MET-minutes) Results After excluding 16 due data, 91 (67% female, 69±7 years) included On average, (N=45) performed 4.0±1.2 sessions/week (162±52 min/week) 47.4±6.7% HRR, while (N=46) 2.4±0.8 (96±40 81.8±11.8% HRR. Peak improved by 1.70±2.35 ml/kg/min 1.46±2.98 (difference: 0.24 [95% CI, −0.87 1.34], p=0.67). associations shown Fig.1. Mean not significantly associated group, whereas MCT, duration/week intensity similar relative importance (standardized coefficients) explained up 26% variation (Table 1). Average weekly MET-minutes above rest 451±260 389±375 62 −71 195], p=0.36). adjustment MET-minutes, difference groups diminished 0.09 (95% −0.97 1.16; p=0.98). Conclusions Weekly had predictive ability with, interestingly, lower intensity. HIIT, V̇O2. adjusting expenditure, modes diminished, suggesting that similarly effective. Effect of endurance training on the determinants of peak exercise oxygen consumption in elderly patients with stable compensated heart failure and preserved ejection fraction.

OBJECTIVES The purpose of this study was to evaluate the mechanisms for improved exercise capacity after endurance exercise training (ET) in elderly patients with heart failure and preserved ejection fraction (HFPEF). BACKGROUND Exercise intolerance, measured objectively by reduced peak oxygen consumption (VO(2)), is the primary chronic symptom in HFPEF and is improved by ET. However, the mec...

Clinical Utility of Exercise Training in Heart Failure with Reduced and Preserved Ejection Fraction

Reduced exercise tolerance is an independent predictor of hospital readmission and mortality in patients with heart failure (HF). Exercise training for HF patients is well established as an adjunct therapy, and there is sufficient evidence to support the favorable role of exercise training programs for HF patients over and above the optimal medical therapy. Some of the documented benefits inclu...

The effect of exercise training on biventricular myocardial strain in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction

AIMS High-intensity interval training (HIIT) improves peak oxygen uptake and left ventricular diastology in patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). However, its effects on myocardial strain in HFpEF remain unknown. We explored the effects of HIIT and moderate-intensity aerobic continuous training (MI-ACT) on left and right ventricular strain parameters in patients ...

Targeting Endothelial Function to Treat Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction: The Promise of Exercise Training

Although the burden of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) is increasing, there is no therapy available that improves prognosis. Clinical trials using beta blockers and angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors, cardiac-targeting drugs that reduce mortality in heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF), have had disappointing results in HFpEF patients. A new "whole-s...
